Founder & Chief Storyteller
After quitting his job in the Middle East and travelling for a few years, Johann, a Fort Kochi native, started The Kochi Heritage Project to document Kochi’s heritage.
Passionate about history & heritage he has been creating awareness about the city’s heritage to locals and travellers through The Kochi Heritage Project and its storytelling experiences. In addition to storytelling, he is an avid traveller and has been active in the travel industry over the past few years since leaving his corporate career.
Storyteller & Research Intern
Devaki is a Humanities graduate from Azim Premji University who majored in History. She has a passion for reading and a keen interest in history, heritage, culture and the arts. She also enjoys spending time with her dog and crocheting.
Her deep attachment towards Kochi and desire to contribute towards the preservation of its rich and diverse heritage inspired her to get involved with the Kochi Heritage Project, as she admires how the organisation has been working towards the same in such a unique way.
Storyteller
Meet Rizwan, a Fort Kochi native and a passionate musician. Born and raised in this vibrant town, he lives for love, food, music, and travel. Rizwan's deep connection to his hometown led him to The Kochi Heritage Project, where he explores the rich heritage, history, and stories of Kochi and its people.
His mission is to preserve and share this cultural treasure with the world, all while enjoying the company of new friends he meets along,
Storyteller
Adheena intricately weaves tales of her beloved city. From hijacking tourists' frames during her childhood, to exploring streets on her own, every corner holds a story she is waiting to share. Her narratives unfold the tales and evolution of the city, capturing the harmonious coexistence of diverse communities, and has fueled her passion for heritage preservation through The Kochi Heritage Project
She is a Biotechnology graduate, working in Marketing for a Tech firm and thoroughly passionate about History, Art, and Science.
Project Coordinator
Lois holds a postgraduate degree in English and Cultural Studies from Christ University, Bangalore. As a cultural enthusiast, she enjoys delving into concepts in anthropology, material culture, and mythology to understand how it evolves and influences communities over time. Her focus also extends to exploring oral histories that bring out less-explored areas of historical narratives into the mainstream.
She came across The Kochi Heritage Project and was intrigued by the organization's vision and the insights gained from their experiences. Drawn to TKHP's comprehensive approach in celebrating heritage stories, she eagerly joined the team with the aspiration to contribute in creating a space where diverse cultural narratives are not only acknowledged but also celebrated and discussed.
Research Intern
Varsha is a history enthusiast and an aspiring Ph.D scholar hailing from God’s Own Kochi. It is while she was on the lookout for a historical narrative of her city she could relate to on a personal level that she found The Kochi Heritage Project.
She felt The Kochi Heritage Project is not just about uncovering fascinating stories, but it is also about documenting it for the world, in the most exciting and accessible way.
