History on a Plate | Fort Kochi

A Storytelling Dinner at Brunton Boatyard

Step into a colonial-era waterfront mansion and savour Kochi’s past—one course at a time.

History on a Plate is no ordinary dinner. This is a storytelling experience where the menu itself becomes a historical document—each dish revealing a spice route, a migrant’s memory, or a community’s secret recipe. Curated in collaboration with Brunton Boatyard, this immersive dining journey is reinterpreted by The Kochi Heritage Project to bring alive the layered cultural history of Fort Kochi through food.

As the sea breeze drifts in from the harbour, your storyteller will guide you through a tapestry of tales: how a Jewish recipe crossed oceans, how Syrian Christian spice blends evolved under Portuguese influence, and how kitchens onboard colonial railways gave birth to comfort foods like the Railway Mutton Curry. This experience is part theatre, part dinner, and all heart.

This experience is offered in collaboration with Brunton Boatyard & curated by The Kochi Heritage Project
